How to Enable Order Picking in Your WooCommerce Store?

This section of the documentation guide explains how to enable picking for orders using the Order Picking for WooCommerce plugin.

Steps to Enable Picking for Orders

1. Access the Plugin Menu

Once you’ve installed and activated the Order Picking for WooCommerce plugin, go to your WordPress dashboard. You’ll find the plugin menu in the admin panel on the left side of your screen. Click on the ‘Order Picking’ menu item.

2. Navigate to General Settings

In the ‘Order Picking’ menu, select the ‘Settings’ option.

3. Configure Order Statuses for Picking

Within the ‘General Settings’, you’ll find an option labeled ‘Order Statuses for Picking’. Here, you can select one or multiple order statuses that are allowed for picking from a dropdown list of all possible WooCommerce order statuses.

4. Set Automatic Picking Status

Still in ‘General Settings’, there’s an option labeled ‘Automatically set the order to “awaiting fulfillment” when the order status changes’. This setting allows you to designate a specific order status that, when reached by an order, will automatically mark the order as ‘awaiting fulfillment’.

5. Save Changes

After setting your preferences, make sure to click the ‘Save Changes’ button at the bottom of the page.

Bulk Marking Orders as Awaiting Fulfillment

The Order Picking for WooCommerce plugin provides a quick and efficient way to select multiple orders for picking simultaneously using the ‘Bulk Action’ feature. Follow the steps below:

1. Access WooCommerce Orders

From your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the WooCommerce section. Click on the ‘Orders’ menu item in the admin panel on the left side of your screen.

2. Select Orders

You will see a list of all the orders placed on your WooCommerce store. On the left side of each order, there’s a checkbox. Select the checkbox for the orders you want to mark as ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’.

3. Apply Bulk Action

Once you’ve selected the orders, navigate to the ‘Bulk Actions’ dropdown menu above the order list. Select the ‘Mark as Awaiting Fulfillment’ option from the dropdown menu.

4. Confirm Action

After selecting the appropriate action, click the ‘Apply’ button next to the ‘Bulk Actions’ dropdown menu.

The orders you selected will now be marked as ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’, ready for the picking process. These orders will be listed in your ‘Fulfillment’ column under the ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’ status.

Remember, the ‘Bulk Action’ feature significantly speeds up your order processing workflow, allowing you to manage and fulfill large order volumes more efficiently.

Manually Marking Orders as Awaiting Fulfillment from the Order Page

The Order Picking for WooCommerce plugin also enables you to manually mark individual orders as ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’ directly from the order page. Here’s how:

1. Access Individual Order Page

From your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the WooCommerce section. Click on the ‘Orders’ menu item in the admin panel to open the list of all the orders placed on your WooCommerce store. Click on the order number or the ‘Edit’ button for the order you want to mark as ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’.

2. Select Awaiting Fulfillment from Order Actions

On the individual order page, you’ll see a box on the right-hand side labeled ‘Order Actions’. Click on the dropdown menu and select ‘Mark as Awaiting Fulfillment’.

3. Update Order

After you’ve selected ‘Mark as Awaiting Fulfillment’ from the Order Actions dropdown, click on the ‘Update’ button typically found at the top-right or bottom-right corner of the order page to save your changes.

The order is now marked as ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’ and will appear in your ‘Order Picking’ section under the ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’ status, ready for the picking process.

This feature allows for granular control over order processing, providing you with the flexibility to manage your order picking process individually.

Automatically Marking Orders as Awaiting Fulfillment Based on Status Change

The Order Picking for WooCommerce plugin introduces a custom order status called ‘Order Fulfillment’. This plugin allows you to automatically mark orders as ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’ when their status changes, according to the settings you’ve established.

Step 1: Access Plugin Settings

From your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the left menu panel and click on the ‘Order Picking’ item. This action will open the plugin’s settings page.

Step 2: Define Status Changes

In the plugin settings, find the ‘Automatically set the order to “awaiting fulfillment” when the order status changes’ section. Here, you’ll see the ‘Order Status for Automatic Picking’ option. Click on this dropdown menu and select the order status. When an order reaches this status, the system will automatically mark the order as ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’. You can select one status that suits your operational needs. Notably, this list includes the custom ‘Order Fulfillment’ status that the plugin adds to your WooCommerce store.

Step 3: Save Settings

After making your selection, click on the ‘Save Changes’ button at the bottom of the page to apply these settings.

From now on, any order that changes to the status you’ve specified will automatically be marked as ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’. These orders will then appear in your ‘Order Picking’ section for further processing.

This feature streamlines your order processing workflow by automatically transitioning orders to the ‘Awaiting Fulfillment’ status based on their current status.

Important Note: Picking Eligibility

Please note that only orders that are in the ‘Order Statuses for Picking’ can be selected for picking.

This means that if you want an order to be eligible for picking, its status must be one of the statuses listed in the ‘Order Statuses for Picking’ section in the plugin settings.

To check or modify which statuses are considered ‘Order Statuses for Picking’:

  1. Navigate to the ‘Order Picking’ settings from your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Locate the ‘Order Statuses for Picking’ section.
  3. Check that the order status you want to be eligible for picking is listed. If it’s not, you can add it by selecting it from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click ‘Save Changes’ to apply any modifications.
